You Can Miss The Entire World Series…

…when you do not care about sports. Recently it was Game 2 of the World Series and someone brought it up in conversation “Have you watched the World Series?” My face looked confused? There is a World Series going on now? How did I not know? Then it immediately brought me back a few months ago when I happened to see a tweet about the Celtics winning the NBA Finals. I had gone through the same thing. How did I not know there was an NBA Finals game? In the past I have always been aware.

Then it hit me…because of our phones. In the past, advertisers would “spray and pray” ads for the World Series or NBA Finals on billboards, news media, commericials, etc. Now ad dollars are being funnedled into digital channels. Companies like Facebook know that I’m not into sports. Having a responsiblity to their clients, they are not going to waste ad dollars informing be about a game, nor will they show a game to lure me into an ad.

So this where our interests become strengthened, and the things we don’t care about fade further away.
