Chemtrails: Nothing More Than A Silly Myth

I remember the first time I heard about chemtrails. It was sometime in 2009. A man was talking about it at a coffee shop I was at. It took me about a minute to realize this guy was talking crazy. It might have been all of his non sensical terms and “government this, government that” language that immediately prompted me not to take him seriously. The chemtrail debate (well…I don’t see this as any debate; it is an absolute silly idea to think chemtrails exist) has been the pinnacle of conspiracy theory oddities to ever cross my path. Mostly for two reasons: One, I understand aviation and contrails. Two, it's easy to blame our health problems, etc on something we can’t verify like some weird chemical being sprayed from an airplane. People love to conflate a few truths to produce one big lie. Yes, airborne chemicals have been used in the past. Agent Orange in Vietnam was a terrible biochemical weapon used. We spray pesticides on plants using aircraft. Making the comparison to chemtrails is a far reach.

It is entirely easy to break down the myth of chemtrails simply by taking a logistical perspective. In business, I talk a lot about what’s called a “value chain”. The concept was first put in place back in 1986. A value chain relates to a product from start to finish (getting in the customers hands). With each step in the value chain, value to the product is added to collectively get to the finished product and a determined value. With chemtrails, the value chain would have to be immense in order to pull it off. You have 1000s upon 1000s of flights operating every single day. Which means, you would have a tremendous amount of chemical shipments going on each day. There would be a manifest from the chemical company to the trucking company. People receiving and inventorying the chemicals. Specialized labor installing the chemicals. You’d have training, support, you would have a maintenance crew that understood the interworking of the of chemical sprayer. Not to mention the entire team at Boeing would have to be in on it. They would have to make designs and cuts in the aircraft to accommodate this equipment. Pilots would need to be trained. We are talking about an organizational chart the size of Texas in order to pull off such a scheme. And not one person involved getting $15 per hour in wage has opened their mouth? No pilot on his deathbed has confessed to his family he’s been poisoning them and the rest of America for 30 years?

It’s highly dubious. But know, people want to rationalize this shadowy government thinking without putting to much thought into it. They want to be the guy that “figured it out”. You don’t know..but trust me I know kinda person. These people are dangerous.

It's easier to make an excuse of a conspiracy rather than look for the real problem — fast food, obesity, these things that are actually poisoning our bodies. We bring it down to the simplest form we look at logistics in the value chain for instance for a conspiracy to actually work and be pulled off you would have to compartmentalize so many components to keep things to remain a secret with minimal people involved now in the case of chem trails the value chain would have to be tremendous you would have chemical companies manufacturing chemicals those chemicals would be going to airports being received by loaders docs getting signed off that be manifest to be a paper trail you would have equipment that would be be manufactured and maintain that require a trove of employees to install that on Boeing and Airbus would be co-conspirators complicit use the word complicit in the whole operation you’re talking about thousands of people. The entire logistical side of the operation would have a high level of exposure to the public.

Let’s talk weight and balance of the aircraft. This is highly watched over and calculated into flight. Too much weight is a major safety issue. Not to mention, extremely expensive for airlines. Airlines are constantly looking at ways to lower costs. This is even shown in the newer aircraft being produced. Boeing has done a great job at building more fuel efficient aircraft all the way from design to materials. I highly doubt the government is subsidizing such a massive daily bill to pay the airlines for that extra cost of carting around chemicals.

What’s the goal with chemtrails? To poison people? If this were the case there would be a much easier way to pull this off — dump the chemicals into the water supply. This goes directly into peoples homes, mouths, and skin. Plus, less people would have to be involved to pull it off. Few people realize that in order to pull off a conspiracy, you have to have a small or limited number of people in the know. The rest who are involved would have to be shielded from the full picture. Much like how our military builds a secret weapon. You have multiple manufactures building different components. They have no idea what it's for unless they had all the parts or blueprint. In the case of chemtrails, this would be very hard to conceal the true activity.

If you think that people are being “paid off” in order to pull this scheme you have to consider broadly how complicated that is. Buying off doctors, etc is the new route of rationality when comes to explaining some ridiculous conspiracy claim. What most haven’t thought through is the insane maneuvering that would be incumbent upon the receiver of funds to circumvent the system. Meaning- you can’t just deposit ill gotten funds into your bank account from being bought off. You’d have to launder the money. Which presents itself an entirely new problem. Money laundering is a serious federal crime. In fact, it is the only crime to the which the burden of proof falls on the accused. Meaning, if you are held for money laundering, you better have a good explanation of where that money came from otherwise it's seized by the government and you are looking at years in prison. Not to mention, this behavior would trigger the RICO Act, freezing all your assets. I’m sure all this is worth loosing your medical or pilot’s license over right? Can you imagine the hefty government payroll to pay off all the co conspirators of the chem trail operation? I’m sure the Treasury Dept could bury that massive expense in their books.

Conspiracy Theory Ideation” also known as “illusory pattern perception” is an actual psychological issue where a person who believes in a conspiracy theory is trapped by circular reasoning, when presented with evidence against the conspiracy theory coupled with lack of evidence for the conspiracy theory it only reenforces their false belief. It’s becoming a real problem in America obviously. Doctors believe it’s rooted in narcissism where the conspiracy theorist does not want to accept the facts about a situation they disagree with so they subconsciously make up or gravitate towards a false belief to give them a feeling of superiority and control over the situation. What this translates to is that no matter how comprehensive you rationalize a dispute to a conspiracy theory, the other side can always default to “they’re all in on it” or “you just don’t know” and it will support their argument. It's such a disease gripping America and it's drawn from pride.

Conspiracy theory style thinking is a disease of the mind. If your stance is to think “conspiracy” when something you disagree with is of the popular opinion, you really need to look at yourself. Stop thinking everything is a conspiracy. Remember Occam’s Razor.
